About
In an era marked by unprecedented global challenges and complexities, the importance of innovative international collaboration has never been more pressing. As we confront issues such as geopolitical conflicts, climate change, public health crises, and social inequalities, the need for adaptive and forward-thinking partnerships in higher education has become paramount.
The Global Innovation Circle on Higher Education (GICHE) is an international networking format designed to foster dialogue, exchange ideas, and develop collaborative solutions. The initiative aims to bring together leaders from key international higher education networks from around the globe, creating a “network of networks.” Our objective is to facilitate a sustainable, long-term global and inclusive dialogue on the strategic questions shaping the development of the international academic and higher education landscape.
The Global Innovation Circle on Higher Education is an initiative by the University of Hamburg in partnership with the German Rectors’ Conference and the Volkswagen Foundation. It is jointly funded by the University of Hamburg and the Volkswagen Foundation. The University of Hamburg utilizes funds from the Excellence Strategy of the federal and state governments for this purpose.
